Jane has an 8 year old and when the schools closed, due to the coronavirus pandemic, she had to balance her full time job and her childcare at the same time.
“As soon as the schools closed I had to care for my child at home for a number of weeks whilst working from home full time. My parents aged 76 and 72 were shielding, and in the early stages I had no childcare support.”
“Trying to undertake my own full time job, which is very complex, and trying to home school child was extremely stressful. The only way I could manage was by working long days to try to keep up, it impacted adversely on my stress levels.”
Like many parents, Jane was finding it difficult to manage her work and home schooling. It not only affected her productivity but was also impacting her child's education and the whole family's mental wellbeing. In desperation she decided to speak to her child’s Head Teacher who sign posted her to Flexible Childcare Services Scotland’s new software, Caerus.
“Caerus wasreally helpful for me. I had not realised that I could pursue my own childcare options. Now I can use Caerus to find local childcare providers and pick the days and times that suit me and my family, thanks to the Parent's App I'm able to book more sessions as required, check their progress each day and pay for the sessions on the go.”
